Vimetco NV (LSE: VICO), the global producer of primary and processed aluminium products, today announces its financial results for the 12 months ended 31 December 2012.
Financial highlights
• Revenues of USD 2,353 million, down from USD 2,717 million in 2011 predominantly driven by market conditions
• EBITDA of USD 314 million, compared to USD 426 million, in 2011
• Gross profit of USD 234 million, from USD 358 million, in 2011
• Net loss of USD 152 million, from USD 75 million, in 2011
• Total assets of USD 5,346 million, up from USD 5,128 million in 2011
• Total cash available, at year end of USD 912 million, up from USD 746 million, in 2011
Operational highlights
• The total production of primary aluminium decreased to 913,000 tonnes, from 992,000 tonnes in 2011, while the production of processed products reached 171,000 tonnes, up from 150,000 tonnes in 2011, of which:
o 665,000 tonnes of primary aluminium and 84,000 tonnes of processed aluminium in China
o 249,000 tonnes of primary aluminium and 86,000 tonnes of processed products in Romania
• Focus on Research and Development activities, with significant results in energy savings
