SHAREHOLDER NOTICE NOVEMBER 27TH 2008
Mumbai, the financial capital of India has suffered a major terrorist attack resulting in the tragic deaths of many innocent people. Police and military action has led to the closing of a large part of the commercial centre of the city. Offices have been closed today, as have the Stock Exchanges, as people have been told to stay indoors. The Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India have postponed all financial transaction settlements by twenty-four hours.
At the time of writing, the latest information available to your Board is that the police and military actions are continuing and it seems unlikely that business will be able to resume tomorrow. In these circumstances, we believe that it may be impossible to determine a fair valuation of the portfolio of Himalayan Fund NV for execution of orders in tomorrow’s trading on Euronext Fund Service. As a matter of prudence, therefore, the Board has decided to suspend trading in the Fund’s shares for this week. Shareholders who may have submitted orders are requested to re-submit their orders in time for next week’s order cut-off on Thursday, December 4th.
The Board is pleased to record that all of our associates and colleagues in Mumbai are safe and well.
