Titel Fortis to appoint Clara Furse and Reiner Hagemann as non-executive directors

Bericht The Fortis Board of Directors decided on 5 April 2006 to propose at its Annual General Meeting of 31 May 2006 the election of Clara Furse and Reiner Hagemann as non-executive directors for a three-year term. Clara Furse (48) has dual British and Canadian nationality. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics. Mrs Furse has been Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange since early 2001. Prior to that she worked for 15 years at UBS, where she held several senior positions, culminating in that of Managing Director responsible for the UBS Global Futures and Options business worldwide. Mrs Furse also served as a member and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Liffe. She was Group Chief Executive of Credit Lyonnais Rouse from 1990 to 1999. Reiner Hagemann (58) is of German nationality. He studied Economics in Kiel and Freiburg and holds a PhD in Public Finance. After working as a management consultant at McKinsey, Mr Hagemann has since devoted his career to the Allianz Group. From 1995 until his resignation in 2005, Mr Hagemann was CEO of the non-life business and a member of the management board of the Allianz AG holding company. Dr Hagemann has also gained extensive experience as a non-executive director at several companies. Subject to the shareholders’ approval of proposals for re-election and appointment, as decided by the Fortis Board on 8 March and 5 April, the Board will, as of 31 May 2006, be composed of Maurice Lippens (Belgian), Chairman; Jan Slechte (Dutch), Vice-chairman; Philippe Bodson (Belgian); Richard Delbridge (British); Clara Furse (British); Reiner Hagemann (German); Jan-Michiel Hessels (Dutch); Jacques Manardo (French); Aloïs Michielsen (Belgian); Ronald Sandler (German); Rana Talwar (Indian); Piet Van Waeyenberge (Belgian); Klaas Westdijk (Dutch) – all non-executive members – and Jean-Paul Votron (Belgian), CEO.
