Fortis has received the ‘Best Carbon Trader 2008’ award from Point Carbon. The award was presented at the prestigious Carbon Market Awards at the Carbon Market Insight conference. Each year, Point Carbon announces the winners for Best Trader, Best Broker and Best Project Developer.
Carbon Banking at Fortis covers a broad spectrum of financial services from equity to debt and from trading to administration. In 2007, Fortis served some 300 clients, made over 20,000 trades and traded a total of 300 million tons of carbon. As a pioneer in all financial aspects of the carbon market Fortis has the expertise to deliver superior solutions for Emission Assets trading needs. Fortis won this award thanks to its continuous efficient carbon market making in Europe and was praised for setting the market standard.
The results were compiled from a survey of leading professionals working in the carbon market, with over 600 individuals invited to participate. The award was presented in Copenhagen on Tuesday 11 March by Point Carbon CEO Mr Per-Otto Wold at Carbon Market Insight 2008.
One thousand seven hundred delegates from over 60 countries attended the conference, which featured speakers including Nobel Peace Prize Winner 2007 Chairman Dr Rajendra K. Pachauri, Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer and European Commission Deputy Director General Jos Delbeke.
