The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) warns the public against the fraudulent activities of Island Finance, a company that is illegally offering consumer credit.
Island Finance is not an authorized lender or credit intermediary in Belgium, nor is it an authorized insurance intermediary, despite what the company states on its website. Island Finance cannot therefore carry out any activities in Belgium as a lender, credit intermediary or insurance intermediary.
Moreover, according to the information available to the FSMA, it seems that the credit being offered by Island Finance is entirely fraudulent. Additional information about this type of consumer credit fraud is provided in the general warning published by the FSMA on 13 May 2016.
The FSMA therefore strongly advises against responding to any offers of credit made by Island Finance and against making any payment to it.
This company claims to have its registered office in France, at 14 Rue du Lieutenant Delpech, 09000 Foix, and uses the website www.island-bk.com/indexold.html and the email address email@example.com.
It also appears to have ties with Atlantic Finance, a company which has likewise been the subject of a warning issued by the FSMA.
If you wish to check in general whether a proposed transaction complies with the financial regulations, please use the search function (available in French and Dutch only) on the FSMA website. You can also contact the FSMA directly (email address: firstname.lastname@example.org).
