Managers of alternative investment funds (AIFMs)

As opposed to AIFMD licensed AIFMs which obtained their AIFMD license by applying for an AIFMD authorisation after 22 July 2013, no substantive review was performed with regard to AIFMs which already had a license under the Act of Financial Supervision before 22 July 2013 which was automatically converted on 22 July 2014 into an AIFMD license. The data in this spreadsheet concerning the parties which had their old license automatically converted into an AIFMD license on 22 July 2014 is solely based on the information that was provided by these parties.

AIFMs falling under the AIFMD ‘light’ regime (‘light’ AIFMs)

A list of AIFMs which have registered for the AIFMD ‘light’ regime is also available in a separate spreadsheet. ‘Light’ AIFMs are exempted from the AIFMD license obligation as described in article 2:65 Act of Financial Supervision.

No Prudential Supervision (section 3 Act of Financial Supervision) and Pursue of Business Supervision (section 4 Act of Financial Supervision) is performed on ‘light’ AIFMs. Consequently, registered ‘light’ AIFMs are not subject to requirements of the Act of Financial Supervision involving, for example, the suitability and reliability of the persons effectively conducting the business, disclosing information to investors, ensuring adequate human and technical resources necessary for proper management of AIFs, acting honestly and fairly (with due skill, care and diligence) and in the best interest of the AIFs and their investors, having sound and effective remuneration policies and practices, performing adequate risk and liquidity management, having sufficient initial capital and own funds, delegation of functions and having an AIFMD depositary.

At this moment the Register collective investment schemes (see below) merely contains an overview of (managers of the) ICBE’s. No information on AIFM’s is included.
