Commodity derivatives and emission rights

MiFID II brings about important changes in the area of commodity derivatives, emission rights and derivatives thereof. Market participants that engage in proprietary trading in these financial instruments are in principle subject to a licence obligation under MiFID II.

Parties that wish to engage in dealing on own account in commodity derivatives or emission rights or derivatives thereof must have a licence or have notified themselves to the AFM.

The aforementioned parties can e-mail questions regarding commodities to: commodities_mifid2@afm.nl and e-mail questions regarding emission rights to: carbonemissie_mifid2@afm.nl.
