Comments June 23, 2011 Philips appoints Carole Wainaina as Chief Human Resources Officer Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced the appointment of Carole Wainaina as Chief Human Resources Officer, effective September 1, 2011. Ms. Wainaina will succeed Hayko Kroese and will report directly to Philips Chief Executive Officer Frans van Houten. “I am confident Carole will pro-actively help shape the right environment for Philips to accelerate our profitable growth, while ensuring we further enhance our attractiveness as a company to work for,’’ said Philips Chief Executive Officer Frans van Houten. “She brings a long career in different continents and strong qualities in change management and leadership development to Philips. At the same time I would like to express my appreciation to Hayko for his past contributions to Philips, and thank him for his commitment and warm heart for the human side of our business. He has been a valued HR partner to the Board of Management and I wish Hayko the very best for his future. "I am very excited to join Philips, a truly global company with activities in more than 100 markets," said Ms. Wainaina. "I look forward to leveraging my global experience to help move Philips forward." Carole Wainaina (Kenyan, 1966) joins Philips from The Coca-Cola Company, where she is currently based in London and responsible for Human Resources in Europe. Having started her career at Price Waterhouse in Kenya in 1989 as a consultant, Carole joined the Coca-Cola Company in 1998 and has worked for that company in Africa, Eurasia, Europe and the United States. She was Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to Coca-Cola’s former Chairman and CEO in Atlanta between June 2007 and December 2008.
