Steven Maijoor, Chairman of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) held a speech on 24 May during a public hearing about financial supervision in the EU.
In his speech, he dealt, among other things, with the relationship between regulation and supervision. He also argues that there should be a sound balance between the approach of regulation aimed at stability and that aimed at protecting investors.
