Will there be the introduction in the future of a body such as the Dutch Credit Registration Bureau (Bureau Krediet Registratie - BKR) on one of the islands of the Dutch Caribbean?
The AFM is not the designated body for the introduction of a Credit Registration Bureau. It is the responsibility of the credit providers, in the context of the assessment of the financial position, to establish the extent of the client’s outstanding loans and consumer credit debts, and thus the client’s current liabilities.
This can be done by the provider itself, by asking the client what his current liabilities are with respect to consumer credit and loans, and, at the same time, by making enquiries at other credit institutions about the extent of the client’s outstanding debts.
