AFM issues a warning against London Mcfee Investment
12-02-2010The AFM issues a warning against London Mcfee Investment. The AFM has received reports concerning London Mcfee Investment from various European supervisors and consumers. London Mcfee Investment approached foreign consumers by telephone with an offer for buying or selling shares.
According to the website www.londonmcfeeinvestment.com, London Mcfee Investment has its registered office at Siriusdreef 25 in Hoofddorp. The AFM, however, has established that this is not correct. London Mcfee Investment is not known at the aforementioned address, is not registered in the Dutch Trade Register and is not registered with the AFM. The AFM assumes, on the basis of the above, that London Mcfee Investment is a so-called boiler room.
The AFM advises consumers, who wish to do business with an institution or person, to check the relevant register on the AFM's website in advance to verify whether the relevant institution or person is registered. The AFM also urgently advises consumers to check the warning lists and press releases at www.afm.nl in advance. Consumers with questions or comments can also contact the Financial Markets Information Line on: 0900-5400 540 (5 eurocents per minute).
