Cooperation with the Dutch Central Bank (DNB)
The AFM as a regulator cooperates with the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank - DNB).
The AFM regulates behaviour, which means that it ensures that consumers are properly informed about financial products and that institutions respect the agreements that they make with their customers. The DNB provides what is called prudential control, which means that the DNB performs prudential controls in respect of financial institutions and companies to ensure that financial institutions can meet their financial obligations.
Two Information Lines
The DNB also has an Information Line. The two Information Lines work together, so that you can be put through directly to another regulator, if necessary.
