About AFM
The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiƫle Markten - AFM) promotes a fair and transparent financial market. We are an independent supervisory authority for the savings, borrowing, investment, pension and insurance markets. The AFM falls under the political responsibility of the Ministry of Finance and is a semi-governmental agency.
The AFM promotes the conscientious provision of financial services for consumers and ensures that the capital market function in a fair and efficient manner. We strive to strengthen the confidence of consumers and companies in the financial markets, both national and international. In this manner the AFM contributes to the prosperity and the economic reputation of the Netherlands.
